Psychospiritual / Transpersonal Therapy
Psychospiritual Therapy, or ‘Psychosynthesis’, is a ‘Transpersonal’ Psychology, which deals with mind-related matters from a perspective beyond (‘Trans’) the personality (’personal’); for the rationale that the personality is only a small part of who we are, beyond which lies our highest truths and deepest peace; and it is from this ‘higher’ perspective that many of the issues suffered at the level of the personality can be more clearly seen
In recognising our wholeness, it seeks to understand and heal historical issues in the ‘here and now’; on the basis that the future is equally as influential to our present as is our past; and that the higher unconscious (from which intuition, imagination, wisdom, and love emanates), is the place from which issues of the lower unconscious, (where repression, shame, guilt, and fear reside), are best healed
It uses the ‘dance’ between ‘higher’ and ‘lower’ minds, and the ongoing cycles of ‘birth and death’ we experience as we move between states of love and fear, as the landscape to contextualise the drivers behind such feelings as dis-ease, insecurity, anxiety, inadequacy, anger, lust, apathy, pride, and lovelessness; and illuminates the extent to which these temporal, illusory phenomena prevent or distort pure expressions of soul emerging though the personality
Psychospiritual exploration of this nature utilises a wide range of tools – verbal, written, creative, and imaginative; and may include work on such themes as; the evolution of consciousness; sacred wounds and inner child; subpersonalities and disidentification; the journey of the soul; the will and motivation; creativity and mind development; crises of meaning; the nature of suffering; spiritual emergency; narcissism; neuroses; moral dilemmas; the relationship between ‘I’ and Self; and life, death, and rebirth
These endeavours enable us to healthily metamorphosise; from ‘child’ to ‘adult’; from attachment to independence; from resistance to surrender; from head to heart; from fear to love; from enslavement to liberation; from hopelessness to meaning; from separation to oneness; from ego to soul… and from soul to spirit; resulting in both a psychological and spiritual synthesis which unifies all parts of the complex psyche, and enables us to create balanced, new realities, free of limiting condition
The work can be difficult before it becomes easier – and one need to be brave; as magical as the process is, healing can be painful; and awakening can be frightening – at times feeling like a psychotic experience; but in order to transcend fear, fear must be faced – there is no workaround
The beautiful truth, however, is that as fear is faced, it dissolves, and takes the suffering with it – just as surrendering to a lack of peace, brings peace – until then, however, and throughout the process, Paths of One provides a safe space for kindred spirits to journey together, on a path to one’s ultimate truth, and the achievable reality of unconditional love
